Miami: Property prices in Miami tanked because of the building boom. It is one of the worst metro areas in the country for condo property values because of all the buildings built pre-2008. While statistically that is bad for Miami construction investors, owners are still asking a lot of money for homes and condos in Miami. There may still be a long ways for property values to fall in Miami before they are in line with the rest of the country. Foreclosures and short sales might be the best deals you can find, but hold on tight. Miami is not a city where buyers should expect to earn any equity for years down the line.

However, just driving around desired neighborhoods might be the best way to find a good deal. Of course, consult a real estate agent and have them send you properties in your price range with all the amenities you require.
